Christmas time 2015 was busy for residents at Cañon Lodge Care Center in Cañon City, Colorado.
On Dec. 12, residents’ families joined their loved ones for a Christmas open house. Kelsey Rottier, dietary manager, and her team prepared chicken marsala, potatoes and vegetables, and guests enjoyed punch, iced tea and coffee to drink. Associates came together and decorated for the event, setting up tables throughout the building to give families more privacy.
Christmas music played in all dining areas, and associates offered to take photos of residents and their families in front of the Christmas tree. Residents were dressed up and smiling as they took pictures with their loved ones.
A few days later, on Dec. 15, Cañon Lodge Care Center had its Resident Christmas Party. Santa Claus, played by Josh Finger, health information manager, delivered gifts to each resident. Associates had donated the presents through a Secret Santa program at the facility.
The festivities did not end there, however. On Christmas Eve, an Elvis tribute artist came and entertained the residents with Christmas songs and some of their favorite tunes from the king of rock and roll.
“This year, Christmas was extra special at Cañon Lodge thanks to the amazing staff who made it all possible,” said Beth Evans, receptionist.
