Part of the facility team

On Sept. 9, 2017, Cañon Lodge Care Center in Cañon City, Colorado, won first place in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Pueblo Swim Beach, Colorado.

The facility raised $3,703.07 for the cause; the event raised a total of $49,633.97!

The facility’s team consisted of 42 associates, residents, family members and friends. The team received a trophy, commemorative lap blankets and a quilt for winning first place.

“I loved being a part of every bit of it,” said a resident. “I’m so glad we won. I’m just tickled pink about it.”

Breakfast and lunch were provided at the walk. Home Depot provided wood crafts, attendees were able to paint pet rocks and there were lessons on casting fishing poles. Attendees had the option of walking one mile or a 3K.

“We were honored to be a part of the event and represent Life Care in such a positive way,” said Brandi Fowler, admissions and marketing director. “We look forward to being a part of next year’s event and hopefully earning first place again.”
